Ingredients
Scale
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1 cup butter
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp salt
- ½ tsp baking soda
- 2 cups granulated sugar
- 1 tsp baking powder
- 3 cups flour
Glaze:
- ¾ cup sugar
- ⅓ cup butter
- 2 tbsp vanilla
- 2 tbsp water
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease your bundt pan. Add baking soda, flour, baking powder, and salt into a mixing bowl. Mix well to combine.
- In a second bowl, add butter and sugar. Beat with a handheld mixer until fluffy.
- Add the eggs gradually, beating between each addition.
- Combine buttermilk and vanilla in a third bowl.
- Add the flour mixture into the eggs mixture gradually. Do this with the buttermilk mixture and mix well until incorporated.
- Transfer the Kentucky butter cake batter to the greased bundt pan and bake for an hour. Meanwhile, you can prepare the glaze.
- Add the sugar, vanilla, water, and butter into a pot and cook over low heat while constantly stirring. Once the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved, remove from the heat.
- Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool. Make holes throughout the cake with a skewer and pour the prepared glaze.
- Let the cake sit in the pan for 15 minutes. Slip it into a serving platter and sprinkle powdered sugar.
- Serve and enjoy!
