Do you want to prepare a classic dessert that will impress everyone with its flavor and texture? The Kentucky Butter Cake is a Southern-inspired dessert that gets served on special occasions and holidays.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 large eggs
  •  1 cup buttermilk
  •  1 cup butter
  •  1 tsp vanilla extract
  •  1 tsp salt
  •  ½ tsp baking soda
  •  2 cups granulated sugar
  •  1 tsp baking powder
  •  3 cups flour

Glaze:

  •  ¾ cup sugar
  •  ⅓ cup butter
  •  2 tbsp vanilla
  •  2 tbsp water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease your bundt pan. Add baking soda, flour, baking powder, and salt into a mixing bowl. Mix well to combine.
  2. In a second bowl, add butter and sugar. Beat with a handheld mixer until fluffy.
  3. Add the eggs gradually, beating between each addition.
  4. Combine buttermilk and vanilla in a third bowl.
  5. Add the flour mixture into the eggs mixture gradually. Do this with the buttermilk mixture and mix well until incorporated.
  6. Transfer the Kentucky butter cake batter to the greased bundt pan and bake for an hour. Meanwhile, you can prepare the glaze.
  7. Add the sugar, vanilla, water, and butter into a pot and cook over low heat while constantly stirring. Once the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved, remove from the heat.
  8. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool. Make holes throughout the cake with a skewer and pour the prepared glaze.
  9. Let the cake sit in the pan for 15 minutes. Slip it into a serving platter and sprinkle powdered sugar.
  10. Serve and enjoy!
