Slow Cooker Baked Ziti

The slow cooker baked ziti is a simple and easy recipe that the whole family will love. Preparing pasta can be daunting, as you need to cook, drain, and prepare the other ingredients. With this recipe, you put the uncooked pasta into the slow cooker, and it simmers in the saucy filling. Cover all the pasta in sauce; otherwise, it will stay dry.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef cooked thoroughly
  • 2 jars of Italian pasta sauce
  • 116-ounce box of penne
  • 15 ounce Ricotta cheese
  • 15 ounces tomato paste
  • 2 eggs
  • ⅓ cup basil
  • 2 cups parmesan, freshly shredded
  • 1 cup mozzarella, freshly shredded

Instructions

  1. Beat the eggs in a large mixing bowl. Add the ricotta cheese and mix well to combine.
  2. In a second bowl, pour the two jars of pasta and tomato sauce.
  3. Grease your slow cooker and add two and one-third cups of sauce inside. Add ⅓ of the uncooked pasta to the slow cooker.
  4. Add ricotta cheese and spread it in an even layer. Add one cup of grated parmesan cheese over that.
  5. Add the ground beef and spread it evenly. Add the remaining sauce mixture over the ground beef.
  6. Add 2 1/3 cups of the sauce mixture over that. Add the remaining uncooked pasta. Repeat in the same order as the first layer, finishing with the remaining sauce on top.
  7. Close the lid and cook on high for two to three hours. A few minutes before finishing, you should add mozzarella and let it melt.
  8. Serve and enjoy!
