Epic Beef Nachos Supreme (Better Than Taco Bell)

Nachos are best made and served fresh and this homemade nachos recipe couldn’t be easier. Juicy ground beef with onion and taco flavors top the tortilla chips, along with shredded cheese, tomatoes and more, for a deliciously crunchy appetizer you can’t stop eating.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 2 x 16-ounce bags of tortilla chips
  • ¾ cup water
  • 1 package taco seasoning
  • 16 ounces shredded cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack
  • 1 can refried beans
  • 3 diced Roma tomatoes
  • 2 sliced green onions
  • ½ diced yellow onion

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet on the stove and then add the onions and cook until the beef is brown throughout and the onions are tender.
  3. Drain and discard the grease, then put the beef mixture back in the skillet.
  4. Sprinkle the taco seasoning on top then add the water, bring to a simmer and turn the heat down to gently simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated.
  5. Meanwhile, add a layer of chips to 2 parchment paper-lined baking sheets.
  6. Divide dollops of the refried beans between both and then divide the beef between them and sprinkle the cheese on top.
  7. Bake for 15 minutes.
  8. Top with diced tomatoes and green onions and serve right away.
