- 1 pound ground beef
- ¼ cup chopped green bell pepper
- ½ cup chopped onion
- ½ cup water
- 1 cup ketchup
- 2 teaspoons worcestershire sauce
- 1 tablespoon brown sugar
- ½ teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon yellow mustard
- 3 slices white American cheese
- 6 slices Texas toast bread
Instructions
- Saute the meat, peppers and onion in a skillet and drain off the excess grease.
- Preheat the broiler to a high heat.
- Add the water, ketchup, sugar, worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and mustard to the skillet.
- Turn the heat down and cook for 5 to 10 minutes or until thickened.
- Toast the Texas toast slices under the broiler for 30 seconds or until golden brown.
- Add a slice of cheese on top of 3 of them and then ladle the beef mixture on top.
- Add the other 3 Texas toast slices on top and serve right away.
