Method
Preheat Oven & Prepare Pan:
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish with butter or non-stick spray.
Make the Batter:
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, self-rising flour, sugar, and 1 1/2 tablespoons cocoa powder. Slowly add the milk and vanilla extract, stirring until smooth.

Spread Batter:
- Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and spread it evenly.

Add Cocoa Powder & Boiling Water:
- Sprinkle the 1/4 cup cocoa powder evenly over the batter. Carefully pour the boiling water over the top — do not stir.
Bake:
- Bake in the preheated oven for about 35–40 minutes. The batter will rise through the water, creating a delicious cobbler with a rich chocolate sauce underneath.

Cool & Serve:
- Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm with ice cream or whipped cream, if desired.

- Enjoy!
