Course: Appetizer, Seafood, Snack
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 lb. shrimp peeled, deveined, and cleaned
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons Lawry’s Seasoned Salt or 1/8 cup
  • Ground black pepper to taste
  • Oil for frying vegetable, canola, or peanut oil works best

Method

Prepare the Coating:
  1. In a large Ziploc bag, combine the flour, Lawry’s Seasoned Salt, and black pepper. Seal the bag and shake to mix evenly.
Coat the Shrimp:
  1. Add the cleaned shrimp to the bag. Seal and shake until all the shrimp are fully coated with the seasoned flour mixture.
Heat the Oil:
  1. Pour about 3 inches of oil into a deep skillet or frying pan. Heat over medium-high heat until the oil reaches about 350°F (or test by dropping in a small pinch of flour; it should sizzle immediately).
Fry the Shrimp:
  1. Carefully add the shrimp in batches to avoid overcrowding. Fry for 3–5 minutes per batch, turning occasionally, until the shrimp are golden brown and crispy.
Drain:
  1. Use a slotted spoon to remove the shrimp and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
Serve:
  1. Serve immediately with your favorite dipping sauces, such as cocktail sauce, tartar sauce, or spicy aioli.
  2. Enjoy!
