Egg Roll in a Bowl

If you love the flavors of a classic egg roll but aren’t a fan of deep frying, Egg Roll in a Bowl is the perfect solution. This dish takes all the delicious elements—savory ground meat, crisp cabbage, and a blend of Asian-inspired sauces—and combines them into a simple, one-pan meal.
Course: Appetizer, Dinner, Lunch, Side Dish
Cuisine: Asian

Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground sausage
  • ¼ cup chopped green onions
  • 1 bag coleslaw mix shredded cabbage and carrots
  • 1 Tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 Tbsp minced fresh ginger
  • 1 Tbsp sesame oil
  • 4 tsp minced garlic

Method

  1. In a large skillet over medium-high heat, brown the ground sausage until fully cooked, breaking it apart as it cooks. Do not drain the grease—it adds flavor to the dish.
  2. Reduce the heat to medium and stir in the coleslaw mix. Cook for a few minutes until the cabbage begins to soften.
  3. Add the minced ginger, garlic, and soy sauce. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
  4. Continue to cook, stirring occasionally, until the cabbage is tender but still slightly crisp, about 5–7 minutes.
  5. Drizzle sesame oil over the top, garnish with chopped green onions, and serve immediately.
  6. Enjoy!
