Method
Preheat Oven
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Prepare Filling
- In your pot of cooked apples, add sugar and spices (cinnamon, cloves, apple pie spice) to taste. Stir well and let the mixture cool slightly.
Prepare Dough
- Roll out your pie crust or puff pastry on a lightly floured surface. Cut into rectangles or circles, about 4–5 inches wide.
Fill the Pies
- Place a spoonful of the apple filling onto one half of each dough piece, leaving a border around the edges.
Seal the Pies
- Fold the dough over the filling to form a pocket. Press the edges firmly with a fork to seal.
Apply Egg Wash (Optional)
- Beat the egg and brush the tops of the pies with the egg wash for a golden, shiny finish.
Bake
- Arrange the pies on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 20–25 minutes, or until golden brown and crisp.
