Giant Danish

A giant Danish is going to become your new favorite breakfast or dessert if you enjoy flaky, buttery pastries that are loaded with sweet, creamy goodness. Imagine an enormous, exquisitely golden Danish pastry that is ideal for sharing with loved ones. It can be filled with your preferred filling, rich cream cheese, or fruit preserves.

Ingredients

  • 2 cans refrigerated crescent rolls 8 oz each
  • 16 oz cream cheese room temperature
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 can pie filling any flavor
  • Powdered sugar for dusting (optional)

Method

Preheat Oven:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a large baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
Prepare the Dough Base:
  1. Unroll both cans of crescent rolls and press the dough into a large rectangle on the prepared baking sheet, sealing any perforations and pressing seams together to form one solid crust.
Make the Cream Cheese Filling:
  1. In a medium bowl, beat the cream cheese, granulated sugar, egg, and vanilla extract together until smooth and creamy.
Assemble the Danish:
  1. Spread the cream cheese mixture evenly over the crescent roll dough, leaving about a 1-inch border around the edges. Spoon the pie filling evenly on top of the cream cheese layer.
Fold the Edges:
  1. Carefully fold the edges of the dough over the filling to create a border around the Danish, pinching to seal if needed.
Bake:
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25–30 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the filling is bubbly.
Cool and Serve:
  1. Let the Danish cool for 10–15 minutes. Optionally, dust with powdered sugar before slicing and serving.
  2. Enjoy!
