Homemade Brown Sugar Syrup

Brown sugar simple syrup works just fine as a substitute for maple syrup and is certainly more affordable. This brown sugar syrup recipe is ready in no time and uses only 2 ingredients!
Prep Time 12 minutes
Total Time 12 minutes
Servings: 2 Tablespoon

Ingredients

  • 2 cups of brown sugar
  • 2 cups of boiling water

Method

  1. Heat the brown sugar and water on a pan over low to medium heat. Don't forget to stir occasionally.
  2. To make a thin brown sugar simple syrup for sweetening drinks, heat the mixture only until the brown sugar has fully dissolved in the water.
  3. Remove the pan from the heat and let the syrup cool to room temperature before using.

Notes

To make a thick brown sugar syrup for pancakes, waffles, and other desserts, follow the next steps. Once the sugar has dissolved on low heat, slightly increase the temperature to reach a gentle simmer. Then, adjust the temperature to maintain a gentle simmer for 5 to 10 minutes.
