Krispy Creme Peach Cobbler

It may seem strange to use Krispy Kreme doughnuts as the foundation, but believe me, it works incredibly well. The cobbler is rich, cozy, and simply irresistible thanks to the doughnuts' light, fluffy texture, which perfectly absorbs the peach juices.

Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 box Krispy Kreme doughnuts adjust as needed
  • 32 oz frozen peach slices
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 stick unsalted butter
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon or to taste
  • Pinch of nutmeg
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup evaporated milk Carnation brand recommended
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Method

Cook the peaches:
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine the frozen peach slices, 1/2 cup brown sugar, butter, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook over medium heat for about 10 minutes, until the peaches are softened and the mixture becomes fragrant.
Thicken the sauce:
  1. In a small bowl, mix 2 tablespoons cornstarch with 2 tablespoons water until smooth. Stir the cornstarch mixture into the peaches and cook for another 2-3 minutes, until the sauce has thickened slightly. Remove from heat.
Prepare the cream mixture:
  1. In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, evaporated milk, eggs, 1/4 cup brown sugar, and a pinch of cinnamon until smooth and fully combined.
Soak the doughnuts:
  1. Cut the Krispy Kreme doughnuts into bite-sized pieces. Place them in the cream mixture and let them soak for about 5 minutes, allowing the dough to absorb the custard.
Assemble the cobbler:
  1. Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish. Pour the cooked peaches evenly into the bottom of the pan. Remove the doughnut pieces from the custard (discard excess liquid) and arrange them over the peaches. Add a few extra peach slices on top if desired.
Bake:
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake the cobbler for 20 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean and the doughnuts are slightly golden.
Serve:
  1. Let the cobbler cool slightly before serving. For an extra indulgent treat, top with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream.
  2. Enjoy!
