Course: Dessert, Snack, Treat
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 1 1/3 cups peanut butter
  • 1 1/3 cups crushed graham crackers
  • 2 sticks 1 cup margarine or butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 1 pound box powdered sugar
  • 1/3 block paraffin wax optional – helps chocolate set firmly
  • 12 oz bag semi-sweet chocolate chips

Method

Make the Peanut Butter Mixture:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the peanut butter, crushed graham crackers, melted butter or margarine, vanilla extract, and powdered sugar. Stir together until everything is well mixed and forms a thick dough-like consistency.
Shape into Balls:
  1. Scoop out small portions of the mixture and roll into 1-inch balls using your hands. Place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment or wax paper. Once all the balls are rolled, refrigerate them for about 30 minutes to firm up.
Prepare the Chocolate Coating:
  1. In a double boiler or a heat-safe bowl over a pot of simmering water, melt the paraffin wax (if using) together with the semi-sweet chocolate chips. Stir constantly until the mixture is smooth and fully melted.
Dip the Balls:
  1. Using a toothpick or fork, dip each chilled peanut butter ball into the melted chocolate mixture, coating it completely. Let any excess chocolate drip off, then place the dipped ball back on the parchment-lined baking sheet.
Let Them Set:
  1. Once all the balls are coated, place the tray in the refrigerator until the chocolate has completely hardened, about 30–45 minutes.
Serve or Store:
  1. Enjoy right away, or transfer to an airtight container for storage.
  2. Enjoy!
