Ingredients

For the Batter:
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 teaspoons baking powder
  • cups milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup butter melted
For the Topping:
  • 1 cup butter very softened
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons cinnamon
For the Glaze:
  • 2 cups powdered sugar
  • 5 tablespoons milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

Method

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13-inch baking pan.
Prepare the batter:
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, granulated sugar, and baking powder.
  2. In another bowl, whisk the milk, eggs, vanilla extract, and melted butter until combined.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir just until smooth and combined. Do not overmix.
  4. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and spread it evenly.
Make the topping:
  1. In a medium bowl, mix the softened butter, brown sugar, flour, and cinnamon until well blended and crumbly.
  2. Sprinkle the topping evenly over the batter in the pan.
  3. Bake for 40–45 minutes, or until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean (some gooeyness around the topping is expected).
Prepare the glaze:
  1. While the cake bakes, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  2. Cool the cake for about 10 minutes after baking, then drizzle the glaze evenly over the top.
  3. Let the cake cool completely before slicing to allow the glaze to set and the flavors to meld.
  4. Enjoy!
