Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Cream the butter and sugar in a large mixing bowl until light and fluffy.
Add vanilla and salt, and mix well to combine.
Gradually stir in the flour until fully incorporated. The dough will be thick.
Fold in the chopped walnuts, ensuring they’re evenly distributed.
Shape the dough into 1-inch balls and place them about 1 inch apart on the prepared baking sheet.
Bake for 15–18 minutes, or until the bottoms are lightly golden. The tops will remain pale.
Cool slightly (just a few minutes), then roll the warm cookies in powdered sugar.
Cool completely, then roll once more in powdered sugar for a snowy finish.
