Course: Dinner, Lunch, Main Course, Soup
Cuisine: American

Ingredients

  • 2 pounds fresh green beans trimmed and cut into pieces
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 1 large ham hock or 2–3 small ham hocks
  • 2 pounds small gold potatoes chopped
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon seasoned salt
  • Black pepper to taste

Method

  1. Add the green beans, chopped onion, and chicken broth to a slow cooker. Nestle the ham hock into the mixture, cover, and cook on HIGH for 1 hour.
  2. Reduce the heat to LOW and continue cooking for 3 hours.
  3. Remove the lid and carefully take out the ham hock. Add the chopped potatoes to the slow cooker.
  4. Once the ham hock is cool enough to handle, remove the meat from the bone and chop it into bite-sized pieces. Return the ham to the slow cooker along with the minced garlic, seasoned salt, and black pepper.
  5. Cover and cook on HIGH for an additional 1½ hours, or until the potatoes are fork-tender. Stir gently, taste, and adjust seasoning if needed before serving.
  6. Enjoy!
