Baked Ziti with Shrimp

March 10, 2026 //  by Ann

There’s something irresistible about a dish that combines the comforting familiarity of pasta with the elegance of seafood. Baked Ziti with Shrimp is exactly that — a rich, cheesy, and satisfying meal that makes weeknight dinners feel special and weekend gatherings feel celebratory. This dish is the perfect balance of textures and flavors: tender shrimp, al dente ziti, creamy ricotta, savory marinara sauce, and gooey melted cheese all baked to golden perfection. It’s a recipe that fills the kitchen with an incredible aroma and fills the table with joy.

What makes this recipe so special is the way it combines comfort food with a touch of sophistication. Ziti pasta is hearty enough to hold up to the rich sauce and shrimp, while the layers of cheese and seasonings create a luscious, indulgent texture in every bite. The shrimp add a subtle sweetness and a lightness that prevents the dish from feeling too heavy, making it perfect for both family dinners and special occasions. It’s a dish that looks as good as it tastes, with vibrant colors, bubbling cheese, and a satisfying aroma that immediately draws everyone to the table.

Why I Love This Recipe

I love this Baked Ziti with Shrimp recipe because it’s both comforting and elegant. It’s the kind of meal that feels like a treat without being overly complicated to make. The combination of tender shrimp and cheesy pasta brings together the best of both worlds: seafood freshness and Italian-inspired comfort food. This dish is versatile, too — you can make it ahead of time, freeze it, or bake it fresh when guests arrive. Every time I make it, it feels like a small celebration of flavors and textures that everyone enjoys.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Baked Ziti with Shrimp hot, straight from the oven, garnished with freshly chopped parsley or a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese. It pairs beautifully with a crisp green salad, garlic bread, or roasted vegetables to round out the meal. A chilled glass of white wine, such as Pinot Grigio or Sauvignon Blanc, enhances the flavors of the shrimp and cheese. For a cozy family dinner, a simple side of steamed broccoli or asparagus complements the richness of the dish perfectly.

Freezing and Storage

This dish freezes wonderfully, making it ideal for meal prep or batch cooking. To store leftovers, let the baked ziti cool completely, then transfer to an airtight container and refrigerate for up to four days. For longer storage, freeze in a freezer-safe dish for up to three months. When reheating, bake covered at 350°F until heated through, adding a splash of marinara sauce if needed to maintain moisture.

Variations

Baked Ziti with Shrimp is highly adaptable. You can swap shrimp for other seafood, like scallops or crab, or make it a surf-and-turf version by adding cooked Italian sausage. For a vegetarian option, substitute the shrimp with sautéed mushrooms, zucchini, or roasted red peppers. Experiment with different cheeses, such as mozzarella, provolone, or Parmesan, to create a richer flavor profile. You can even add a hint of spice with red pepper flakes or Cajun seasoning for a bold twist.

Baked Ziti with Shrimp is more than a pasta dish — it’s a comforting, flavorful, and visually stunning meal that brings warmth and joy to the table. Simple ingredients, layered with care, create a dish that’s hearty, elegant, and unforgettable.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 8 oz ziti noodles cooked to al dente
  • ½ cup hot water
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • 12 oz jar roasted red peppers drained and chopped
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 8 oz shrimp peeled, deveined, and cut into pieces
  • 8 oz bay scallops
  • 4 teaspoons minced garlic
  • ⅛ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley chopped
  • ¾ cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Method

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease a 9×9-inch baking dish.
  2. In a blender or food processor, combine the hot water, softened cream cheese, and chopped roasted red peppers. Blend until smooth to create a creamy, flavorful sauce.
  3. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp, scallops, garlic, and salt. Sauté until the seafood is cooked through, about 3–5 minutes. Drain any excess liquid if needed.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium-low and pour the roasted red pepper cream sauce into the skillet with the seafood. Stir to combine and simmer for 5 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  5. Add the cooked ziti noodles and chopped parsley to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the pasta and seafood evenly with the sauce.
  6. Transfer the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella evenly over the top.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted, bubbly, and slightly golden.
  8. Remove from the oven, let rest for a few minutes, then serve hot. Garnish with additional parsley if desired.
  9. Enjoy!
