Sausage Green Bean Potato Casserole

Can’t decide what to make for dinner? Then how about whipping up this mouthwatering sausage, potato and green bean casserole. It’s a cozy homestyle comfort food kind of dish with meaty kielbasa, tasty potatoes and delicious green beans the whole family is going to love.

Garlic and onion add extra dimensions to the overall flavor of the dish and it’s a real crowd-pleaser. You can tweak the recipe if you wish, to make it the perfect fit for your palate. Slap Ya Mamma® seasoning adds plenty of delicious flavors to this recipe along with the garlic powder and red pepper flakes. 

You will find this such a simple recipe to prepare and the balance of sausage, potatoes and green beans is a very satisfying one, although if you want to swap the green beans for something else then that’s fine. Broccoli, corn on the cob or bell peppers would work too.

Ingredients:

  • Potatoes
  • Kielbasa
  • Butter
  • Green beans
  • Cooking oil
  • Slap Ya Mamma® seasoning
  • Water
  • Black pepper
  • Garlic powder
  • Minced garlic cloves
  • Chopped yellow onion
  • Red pepper flakes

How to make Sausage Green Bean Potato Casserole:

Step 1. Put the potato halves in a gallon-sized Ziploc bag with the oil and seasonings.

Step 2. Shake well to mix.

Step 3. Put the kielbasa in a skillet with the water and cook over a moderately high heat until most of the water is gone and the kielbasa is golden brown.

Step 4. Let the sausage cool a bit and then add to the bag with the potatoes.

Step 5. Melt the butter in the same skillet and then saute the onions and garlic in there until fragrant.

Step 6. Preheat the oven to 400°F.

Step 7. Let the onions and garlic cool a bit then add to the Ziploc bag with the potatoes and meat.

Step 8. Seal the bag and shake vigorously to mix.

Step 9. Drain the beans and then add them to the bag and shake one last time.

Step 10. Transfer the contents of the bag into a greased 9 x 13-inch baking dish and bake for 40 minutes.

Step 11. Check if the potatoes are tender and, if not, cook for another 5 minutes and check again.

Serve immediately.

This easy and delicious sheet pan recipe boasts the delicious trifecta or kielbasa or another kind of smoked sausage, potatoes and green beans. This might end up becoming one of your go-to weekly dinners.

Can You Make It Ahead?

Yes, you can prepare it in advance and just leave the mixture in the Ziploc bag until cooking (for up to 2 days).

Storage Instructions:

Leftovers will keep for up to 3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Variations and Substitutions:

You can use chorizo, ground beef or chicken sausage in place of the kielbasa, or use baby red potatoes or diced russets instead of the creamer potatoes. Add some shredded cheese on top during the last 10 minutes of baking time if you like.

  • 1½ pounds kielbasa, in ¼-inch chunks
  • ¼ cup butter
  • 2 x 15-ounce cans green beans
  • ⅛ cup cooking oil
  • 1 teaspoon Slap Ya Mamma® seasoning
  • ¼ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 3 minced garlic cloves
  • 1 finely chopped yellow onion
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes

Instructions
