Crockpot Christmas Crack

December 17, 2025 //  by Ann

One treat always appears when the holidays arrive and the aroma of chocolate, peppermint, and cinnamon fills my kitchen: Crockpot Christmas Crack. Like trimming the tree or singing carols, it has become a tradition, and I promise that it is vanishing more quickly than I can keep it going. This candy’s simplicity is its beauty: just put everything in the crockpot, stir a few times, scoop, chill, and you’re done. Pure, sweet holiday joy without the need for candy thermometers or convoluted procedures.

I can still recall my first attempt. I needed a dessert for a last-minute gathering, but I was too busy wrapping presents and juggling a million other things. I was saved by this recipe. I’ve been using it ever since for late-night snacks by the fireplace, cookie trays, and edible presents. On a chilly winter night, it’s the kind of treat that feels like a cozy embrace.

Why Do I Love This Recipe?

I love this recipe because it’s foolproof, crowd-pleasing, and incredibly easy. The crockpot does all the work! No oven, no stove—just dump, stir, and chill. Plus, it makes a big batch, so it’s perfect for sharing during the holidays. The mix of salty peanuts and sweet, creamy chocolate is addictive in the best way.

Serving Suggestions

Serve it on a holiday dessert tray, package it in festive tins for gifts, or just pile it into a big bowl for snacking at your next party. You can also place pieces in mini cupcake liners for a more polished look when serving.

Storage & Freezing

Store the finished candy in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks, or in the fridge for up to a month. To freeze, place the cooled candy in a freezer-safe bag or container and store for up to 3 months. Let thaw at room temp before serving.

Variations of the Recipe

This recipe is super versatile! Try swapping the peanuts with almonds, cashews, or pretzel pieces. Add crushed peppermint, toffee bits, or a sprinkle of sea salt on top. Use white chocolate, dark chocolate, or even butterscotch chips for different flavor combos. You can even stir in mini marshmallows or holiday M&Ms before scooping for an extra festive touch!

Course: Crockpot, Dessert, Holiday
Cuisine: American
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 1 lb unsalted peanuts
  • 1 lb salted peanuts
  • 12 oz semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 12 oz milk chocolate chips
  • 20 oz peanut butter chips
  • 2 lb white almond bark or vanilla candy coating broken into chunks

Method

Layer the Ingredients:
  1. In a large slow cooker (6-quart or larger), add the peanuts first—start with the unsalted peanuts, then the salted peanuts. This helps prevent the chocolate from burning.
Add the Chips and Bark:
  1. Pour in the semi-sweet chocolate chips, milk chocolate chips, and peanut butter chips evenly over the peanuts. Finally, place chunks of the white almond bark (or vanilla candy coating) on top. Don’t stir yet!
Cook on Low:
  1. Cover the slow cooker with the lid and cook on LOW for about 2 hours. After about 1.5 hours, check the mixture. Once the almond bark is fully melted, it’s ready to stir.
Stir to Combine:
  1. Stir everything together gently until all the ingredients are fully mixed and the peanuts are evenly coated in chocolate.
Scoop and Set:
  1. Line a large baking sheet (or several sheets) with parchment or wax paper. Use a spoon or small cookie scoop to drop spoonfuls of the mixture onto the paper, creating small clusters.
Cool Completely:
  1. Let the Christmas Crack clusters cool and harden completely at room temperature. This may take about 1–2 hours. You can also speed it up by placing the trays in the fridge for 30 minutes.
Serve and Enjoy:
  1. Once fully set, transfer the clusters to an airtight container or festive tins for gifting.
  2. Enjoy!
