The aroma of turkey slowly cooking in a rich, savory, and sweet glaze all day is enchanting. One of those recipes that warms and welcomes everyone in your house is this Slow Cooker Amish Maple Turkey Breast. This recipe, which draws inspiration from traditional Amish cooking, uses basic ingredients and slow, steady cooking to produce a flavorful, juicy, and tender turkey breast. This dish is ideal for Sunday dinners, holiday meals, or any time you want something hearty yet striking. It is made with a mixture of real maple syrup, butter, and herbs that create a glaze that slightly caramelizes while cooking.

Additionally, this recipe requires very little upkeep. Your slow cooker takes care of everything with just a few minutes of preparation, giving you more time for friends, family, or other activities. This recipe demonstrates that cooking at home doesn’t have to be difficult in order to be delicious.

What Makes This Recipe My Favorite?

I adore this recipe because it is incredibly fuss-free while still capturing the nostalgic tastes of home-cooked meals. The turkey breast is kept juicy and tender in the slow cooker, and the maple glaze offers a touch of rustic flavor and a comforting sweetness. It’s easy enough for weeknights but sophisticated enough for Thanksgiving.

Serving Recommendations

For a traditional family meal, serve this turkey breast sliced with green beans, mashed potatoes, and homemade rolls. Additionally, it tastes great with roasted root vegetables or a fresh salad dressed with a drizzle of the remaining maple glaze. The following day, leftovers make delicious turkey wraps or sandwiches.

Freezing and Storage

Remaining turkey breast can be kept in the refrigerator for up to four days in an airtight container. Slices should be reheated slowly in a covered dish with a little broth to keep them moist. Additionally, this recipe freezes well; store the cooked turkey in freezer-safe bags or tightly wrapped in foil for up to three months. Before serving, gently reheat after letting it thaw overnight in the refrigerator.

Different Iterations of the Recipe

For a slightly different sweetness, use honey or brown sugar instead of maple syrup. For a little tang, add apple cider vinegar or Dijon mustard to the glaze. The same amazing glaze can be used with chicken breasts for a smaller meal or bone-in turkey breast for even more flavor.

Course: Dinner, Holiday, Main Course
Cuisine: American, Amish
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 1 3–4 pound boneless turkey breast
  • ½ cup pure maple syrup
  • ¼ cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste

Method

Prepare the Turkey Breast
  1. Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels and place it in the bottom of your slow cooker.
Make the Maple Glaze
  1. In a small mixing bowl, whisk together the maple syrup, apple cider vinegar, Dijon mustard, dried thyme, garlic powder, and onion powder until smooth and well combined.
Coat the Turkey
  1. Pour the maple glaze over the turkey breast, making sure it’s evenly coated. Use a spoon or brush to spread the mixture across the entire surface. Sprinkle salt and black pepper over the top to taste.
Cook Slowly
  1. Cover the slow cooker with its lid and cook on LOW for 6–7 hours, or until the turkey breast is tender and reaches an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
Rest Before Slicing
  1. Once fully cooked, carefully remove the turkey breast from the slow cooker and let it rest on a cutting board for about 10 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute, keeping the turkey moist.
Serve and Enjoy
  1. Slice the turkey breast and spoon some of the maple glaze from the slow cooker over the slices for extra flavor. Serve warm with your favorite side dishes.
  2. Enjoy!
