There are desserts, and then there are desserts that feel like a celebration in every bite—and cherry cheesecake brownies fall firmly into the latter category. Imagine a rich, fudgy chocolate brownie layer topped with creamy cheesecake and studded with juicy, fresh cherries. The combination of chocolate, tangy cheesecake, and sweet-tart cherries is truly irresistible. Every bite offers layers of flavor and texture: the dense, chocolatey brownie, the silky cheesecake, and the burst of juicy cherries. It’s a dessert that’s perfect for a special occasion, but honestly, it’s too good not to enjoy any day of the week.

What I love most about this recipe is how it takes simple, familiar ingredients—brownie mix, cream cheese, and fresh cherries—and transforms them into something that feels gourmet. It’s a dessert that looks impressive but is actually easy to make. Even novice bakers can feel like a dessert pro when they serve this to friends and family. Plus, it’s a wonderful way to celebrate cherry season, letting the fresh fruit shine alongside the chocolate and creamy cheesecake.

Why Do I Love This Recipe?

I love this recipe because it’s the perfect combination of indulgence and freshness. The chocolate brownie is rich and fudgy, while the cheesecake layer adds a tangy, creamy balance. Then, the fresh cherries provide just the right amount of tartness and juiciness, brightening the dessert. It’s a flavor trio that works every single time, and the beautiful layers make it as stunning to look at as it is to eat.

Serving Suggestions

These cherry cheesecake brownies are perfect on their own or served with a dollop of whipped cream or a scoop of vanilla ice cream. They also pair wonderfully with a hot cup of coffee or a chilled glass of milk. For a fancier presentation, drizzle melted chocolate over the top or sprinkle with powdered sugar just before serving.

Storage & Freezing

Store leftover brownies in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4–5 days. For longer storage, these brownies freeze beautifully. Wrap them tightly in plastic wrap and foil, and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator overnight before serving to preserve the cheesecake layer’s creamy texture.

Variations of the Recipe

This recipe is versatile! Swap fresh cherries for frozen ones if needed, or use cherries in syrup for extra sweetness. You can also add chocolate chips to the cheesecake layer, swirl raspberry or cherry preserves into the cream cheese, or top with toasted almonds for added crunch.

Ingredients Method

Ingredients

For the Brownies
  • 1 cup unsalted butter melted
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • ¾ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For the Cheesecake Swirl
  • 8 oz cream cheese softened
  • ⅓ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 can cherry pie filling use only the cherries; drain and discard the syrup

Method

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
Prepare the brownie layer:
  1. In a mixing bowl, combine the melted butter, flour, sugar, eggs, cocoa powder, baking powder, and vanilla extract. Beat until smooth and creamy. Spread the mixture evenly into the prepared baking dish.
Prepare the cheesecake layer:
  1. In a separate bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, ⅓ cup sugar, and 1 egg. Stir in the drained cherries from the pie filling. Mix until smooth and fully incorporated.
Assemble the brownies:
  1. Carefully spread the cheesecake mixture over the brownie batter. Use a butter knife to swirl the cheesecake into the brownie layer for a marbled effect.
Bake:
  1. Place in the oven and bake for 45 minutes, or until the cheesecake layer is set and a toothpick inserted into the brownie portion comes out mostly clean (a few crumbs are okay).
Cool and serve:
  1. Let the brownies cool to room temperature before cutting. For best results, chill for 30 minutes to an hour to help the cheesecake layer set.
  2. Enjoy! These cherry cheesecake brownies are perfect on their own or served with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for an extra decadent treat.
  3. Enjoy!
