Chicken fritters make a change from chicken tenders, wings and nuggets. This is such an easy recipe too. You can use leftover chicken or even canned chicken to make the fritters. Mustard, thyme, garlic and onion flavor them and then you need breadcrumbs and an egg, plus some oil to fry them in.

You won’t have any problems making these fritters because they’re so easy. In fact, this might well end up becoming a staple in your regular meal rotation because the whole family will love the flavor of these.

These are cooked in oil in a skillet until they’re smelling amazing and have a crispy golden brown crust. Whether you pair them with mashed potatoes and broccoli or make them smaller in size and enjoy them as a snack with your preferred dipping sauce, you just can’t go wrong with this recipe.

Why You’ll Love the Recipe:

These chicken fritters are really easy to make. You just need to combine chicken with breadcrumbs, eggs and seasonings, and then shape fritters and fry them until crispy.

How to Serve Them:

Pair these chicken fritters with mashed or roasted potatoes or perhaps a baked potato with sour cream and green onions or even some rice or garlic bread.

Can You Make Them Ahead?

Yes, you can prepare the mixture ahead and refrigerate, shaping and frying the patties later.

Storage Instructions:

Leftovers will keep for up to 3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Variations and Substitutions:

Sub turkey for the chicken or even try tuna or salmon. Whatever protein you opt for, make sure it’s very well drained before you start, otherwise the fritters will just fall apart in the pan. You can also use seasoned bread crumbs but if you’re doing that you might not need much, if any, additional salt and pepper.

Ingredients:

  • Shredded chicken or drained canned chicken
  • Dijon mustard
  • Egg
  • Dried thyme
  • Bbreadcrumbs
  • Onion powder
  • Garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • Oil, for frying

How to make Crispy Chicken Fritters:

Step 1. Mix together all the ingredients except the oil.

Step 2. Shape the mixture into 6 medium patties (or 12 small ones).

Step 3. Heat some oil in a skillet and then fry the patties on both sides until crispy and golden brown all over.

Crispy chicken fritters are everyone’s idea of a tasty dinner. You can count on everyone wanting at least 2 of these or you can make smaller ones if you want to have them as an appetizer with a dipping sauce. You might as well memorize this recipe because you’ll want to make it often.
