Do you want to prepare a classic dessert that will impress everyone with its flavor and texture? The Kentucky Butter Cake is a Southern-inspired dessert that gets served on special occasions and holidays.

The secret trick for the perfect flavor is covering the cake with a buttery glaze and letting it soak. It infuses flavor and adds a lovely moistness to this cake recipe. You can add various toppings for a nice presentation. If you’re a huge fan of moist cakes like me, the Kentucky Butter Cake is your absolute favorite. The addition of butter and milk in the batter, as well as the glaze, makes the cake super moist and delicious. Making it is very easy. All you need to do is mix the wet and dry ingredients and bake it. Then, you prepare the glaze in a pot and pour it over the cooled cake.

Yes, it is so simple, and you don’t have an excuse for it.

Let’s get started!

Ingredients
- Eggs
- Buttermilk
- Butter
- Vanilla extract
- Salt
- Baking soda
- Granulated sugar
- Baking powder
- Flour
Glaze:
- Sugar

How to make Kentucky Butter Cake:
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and grease your bundt pan. Add baking soda, flour, baking powder, and salt into a mixing bowl. Mix well to combine.
In a second bowl, add butter and sugar. Beat with a handheld mixer until fluffy.

Add the eggs gradually, beating between each addition.

Combine buttermilk and vanilla in a third bowl.

Add the flour mixture into the eggs mixture gradually. Do this with the buttermilk mixture and mix well until incorporated.

Transfer the Kentucky butter cake batter to the greased bundt pan and bake for an hour. Meanwhile, you can prepare the glaze.

Add the sugar, vanilla, water, and butter into a pot and cook over low heat while constantly stirring.

Once the butter is melted and the sugar is dissolved, remove from the heat. Remove the cake from the oven and let it cool. Make holes throughout the cake with a skewer and pour the prepared glaze. Let the cake sit in the pan for 15 minutes.

Slip it into a serving platter and sprinkle powdered sugar. Serve and enjoy!

What to add on top?
You can serve a slice of the Kentucky butter cake on a plate and add various toppings. You can drizzle some caramel sauce for extra flavor. I would like to add some whipped cream and berries for that nice presentation.
How to store it?
The Kentucky butter cake is very moist, but keeping it open might dry it out. I would recommend you store it in an airtight container in the fridge to preserve the freshness. This way, it will last longer in the fridge. You can store it for 7 days in the fridge and only 4 days on the counter.
