Chicken Club Pasta Salad

April 3, 2026 //  by Ann

Chicken Club Pasta Salad is a delicious twist on the classic club sandwich, transformed into a hearty and refreshing dish that’s perfect for any occasion. Inspired by the traditional combination of chicken, bacon, lettuce, and tomato, this pasta salad brings all those familiar flavors together with tender pasta and a creamy dressing. It’s the kind of recipe that feels both comforting and fresh at the same time, making it a favorite for picnics, potlucks, and family meals.

The club sandwich has long been a staple in American dining, especially in diners and cafés throughout the 20th century. Known for its layers of flavor and satisfying ingredients, it quickly became a go-to choice for a filling meal. This pasta salad version keeps all those classic elements but makes it easier to prepare ahead and serve to a crowd. By combining everything in one bowl, you get a dish that is both convenient and full of flavor.

What makes Chicken Club Pasta Salad so appealing is the mix of textures. The pasta is soft and tender, the chicken adds protein and heartiness, and the bacon brings a smoky crunch. Fresh vegetables like lettuce and tomatoes add brightness and freshness, while the creamy dressing ties everything together. Each bite offers a perfect balance of creamy, crunchy, and savory flavors.

Another reason this recipe is so popular is its versatility. It can be served as a main dish for lunch or dinner, or as a side dish at gatherings. It’s easy to prepare in advance, which makes it ideal for busy days or entertaining guests. Plus, it’s a great way to use leftover chicken, saving both time and effort in the kitchen.

Why Do I Love This Recipe?

I love this recipe because it combines the flavors of a classic club sandwich into a simple and satisfying pasta dish. It’s easy to make, full of flavor, and perfect for feeding a crowd. The mix of creamy dressing, savory bacon, and fresh ingredients makes every bite delicious.

Serving Suggestions

Serve Chicken Club Pasta Salad chilled or slightly cool. It pairs well with grilled meats, sandwiches, or a light soup. It also works perfectly as a standalone meal for lunch or dinner. Adding a slice of garlic bread or a side salad can make it even more complete.

Storage and Freezing

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3–4 days. Stir before serving, as the dressing may settle. Freezing is not recommended because the texture of the pasta and dressing can change once thawed.

Variations of the Recipe

You can customize this recipe by using different types of pasta such as rotini, penne, or bowtie. Swap the dressing for a ranch or Caesar-style dressing for a different flavor. Add ingredients like avocado, cheese cubes, or hard-boiled eggs for extra richness. You can also use turkey or ham instead of chicken for a new twist.

Course: Salad, Side Dish
Cuisine: American
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces corkscrew rotini pasta
  • ¾ cup Italian-style salad dressing
  • ¼ cup mayonnaise
  • 2 cups cooked rotisserie chicken chopped
  • 12 slices bacon cooked until crispy and crumbled
  • 1 cup Muenster cheese cubed
  • 1 cup celery chopped
  • 1 cup green bell pepper chopped
  • 8 ounces cherry tomatoes halved
  • 1 avocado peeled, pitted, and chopped

Method

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil over high heat.
  2. Add the pasta and cook according to package instructions, usually 10–12 minutes, until the pasta is tender but still slightly firm (al dente).
  3. Drain the pasta and rinse it under cold water to stop the cooking process. Set aside and allow it to cool completely.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, combine the Italian dressing and mayonnaise. Whisk together until smooth and well blended.
  5. Add the cooled pasta to the bowl with the dressing.
  6. Stir in the chopped chicken, crumbled bacon, cubed Muenster cheese, celery, green bell pepper, and cherry tomatoes.
  7. Gently mix everything together until all the ingredients are evenly coated with the dressing.
  8. Carefully fold in the chopped avocado last, being gentle so it does not mash.
  9. Taste the salad and adjust seasoning if needed with a pinch of salt and black pepper.
  10. Cover and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to blend together.
  11. Stir gently before serving and enjoy chilled.
  12. Enjoy!
