Leftover chili is always good reheated and served by itself or with your favorite chili toppings but there’s another way you can use it, and that’s by making baked chili cheese dogs. These aren’t your regular chili cheese dogs though. We are using refrigerated dough to completely enclose the hot dogs and chili mixture, instead of ladling it messily over the top.

This makes a change from the original recipe but is every bit as delicious. This should appeal to kids and grownups alike. After all, we all love some great homestyle cooking and this is real comfort food.

You need refrigerated pizza crust, hot dog sausages, cheese, leftover chili, butter, and garlic powder to make these cozy hot bites. You might even want to make extra since some people might want two of these delicious snacks all to themselves.

Why You’ll Love the Recipe

This recipe is really easy and it’s a nice way to use up leftover chili. The flavors are bold and delicious, and this dish will appeal to everyone.

How to Serve It:

Enjoy these as a snack or for a meal, perhaps paired with a salad or your preferred vegetable dish.

Can You Make It Ahead?

Not if you don’t want the buns to go soggy. Make it fresh.

Storage Instructions:

Leftovers will keep for up to 3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator.

Variations and Substitutions:

If you don’t have leftover chili but you still want to make these, you can use canned chili in its place. You can also sub another kind of cheese for the cheddar.

Ingredients:

  • Refrigerated pizza crust
  • Cheddar cheese sticks
  • Bun-length franks or hot dog sausages
  • Chili
  • Melted butter
  • Garlic powder (optional)

How to make Chili Cheese Dog Bake Dinner:

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F.

Step 2. Roll the pizza dough out and cut into 4 triangles.

Step 3. Add a sausage and cheese stick in the middle of each one.

Step 4. Sprinkle over garlic powder, if liked.

Step 5. Add a spoonful of the chili on top too (use about half of it).

Step 6. Fold up the ends of the pizza dough and roll up.

Step 7. Spoon the rest of the chili into a 9-inch square baking dish.

Step 8. Sit the wrapped hot dogs on top and bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden brown on top.

Step 9. Brush the melted butter on the hot dogs and cook for a few more minutes, then serve hot.

These chili dogs made with pizza dough are really tasty. They’re a nice way of using up leftover chili and they are quick and easy to prepare.
