There’s something magical about the smell of warm apples, cinnamon, and sugar filling your kitchen. Now imagine all those flavors wrapped up in a crispy, golden egg roll — that’s exactly what apple pie egg rolls bring to your table. This dessert is the perfect way to enjoy the comfort of classic apple pie in a fun, bite-sized form. Whether you’re entertaining guests, treating the kids, or just craving a sweet snack, these egg rolls are sure to impress. The combination of tender apples, rich cinnamon, and a crunchy exterior makes each bite an irresistible treat.

Why I Love This Recipe

I love this recipe because it takes a familiar favorite — apple pie — and transforms it into something playful and easy to eat. The egg roll wrapper crisps beautifully in the oven or fryer, while the filling stays warm, gooey, and perfectly spiced. It’s a dessert that feels homemade and special without the long baking time of a traditional pie. Plus, it’s incredibly versatile — perfect for breakfast, snack time, or dessert after dinner.

Serving Suggestions

Serve these apple pie egg rolls warm, dusted with powdered sugar or drizzled with caramel sauce for extra indulgence. Pair them with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a decadent dessert, or enjoy them on their own with a cup of coffee or hot cider. They’re also great for parties and potlucks because they’re easy to grab and eat without utensils.

Storage & Freezing

If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to two days. To keep them crispy, reheat them in the oven or toaster oven rather than the microwave. For longer storage, you can freeze the unbaked egg rolls: assemble them, place them on a baking sheet in the freezer until solid, then transfer to a freezer bag. Bake directly from frozen, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.

Variations

Feel free to get creative! Swap the apples for pears or peaches, add a handful of raisins or cranberries, or mix in some chopped nuts for crunch. For a decadent twist, drizzle melted chocolate over the cooked egg rolls or sprinkle with cinnamon sugar instead of powdered sugar.

These apple pie egg rolls are a delightful, easy-to-make treat that brings the taste of autumn into a fun, handheld dessert. Perfect for family gatherings or cozy nights in, they’re sure to become a new favorite in your kitchen.

Course: Dessert, Snack
Cuisine: American
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 4 medium apples peeled, cored, and finely diced
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground allspice
  • 1 tablespoon all-purpose flour
  • 12 egg roll wrappers
  • Oil for frying vegetable or canola
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Method

Prepare the filling:
  1. In a large bowl, combine the diced apples with sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and flour. Stir until the apples are evenly coated with the spices and set aside.
Assemble the egg rolls:
  1. Lay one egg roll wrapper diagonally on a clean surface. Spoon about 2–3 tablespoons of the apple mixture onto the center of the wrapper. Be careful not to overfill.
Fold the wrapper:
  1. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, tucking it slightly under. Fold in the left and right corners to enclose the filling, then roll tightly from the bottom to the top. Seal the top corner with a small dab of water. Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
Heat the oil:
  1. Pour oil into a deep fryer or a large skillet, filling it about 2 inches deep. Heat to 350°F (175°C).
Fry the egg rolls:
  1. Carefully place 2–3 egg rolls at a time into the hot oil. Fry for 2–3 minutes, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy. Do not overcrowd the pan.
Drain:
  1. Remove the cooked egg rolls with a slotted spoon and place them on a plate lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
Serve:
  1. Dust the warm egg rolls with powdered sugar and serve immediately. For extra indulgence, pair with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, or a drizzle of chocolate.
  2. Enjoy!
