You only need four ingredients to make this exquisite peach cobbler. It’s a great dessert for the warmer months combining sweet and juicy peaches with a sweet crispy topping. Whether paired with ice cream or whipped cream, this makes a fantastic dessert after any kind of meal.

The secret of excellent peach cobbler is first lining the baking pan with a little flour before adding the peaches. During cooking, the peach juices drip down out of the fruit chunks and mix with the flour, thickening up to produce a tasty juice.

This is a summer favorite when peaches are plentiful and in season. But at other times of the year you can still make it, either with imported peaches or canned ones. The topping isn’t a thick biscuit dough but instead it’s a light and crispy top which contrasts really well with the sweet and juicy filling.

Why You’ll Love the Recipe

This peach cobbler is incredibly easy to make and you only need a handful of ingredients. It’s delicious for any occasion and during any season.

How to Serve It

Enjoy it hot with your choice of vanilla ice cream or whipped cream on top.

Can You Make It Ahead?

You can prepare it ahead and keep it refrigerated until you’re ready to cook it.

Storage Instructions

Leftovers will keep for up to 4 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator and can be warmed up in the microwave.

Variations and Substitutions

If you don’t have self-rising flour, make your own by combining a cup of all-purpose flour with a teaspoon of baking powder, ¼ teaspoon of baking powder, and ½ teaspoon of salt. Want to double the recipe? You can use a 13 x 9-inch baking dish if so.

Ingredients:

  • Self-rising flour
  • Melted butter
  • White sugar
  • Canned sliced peaches
  • Ground cinnamon (optional)

How to make the Classic Peach Cobbler Recipe:

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

Step 2. Mix the flour with the white sugar and half of the butter, adding a pinch of cinnamon too, if liked.

Step 3. Sprinkle about a third of the flour mixture into a 9-inch square baking dish.

Step 4. Add the peaches on top with all of the juice if you like a lot of sauce or half of the juice if not.

Step 5. Add the rest of the flour mixture and then sprinkle 2 tablespoons of sugar on top.

Step 6. Drizzle the rest of the melted butter on top.

Step 7. Bake for 45 minutes or until bubbling and golden brown on top.

Step 8. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then serve hot.

This juicy peach cobbler is really delicious. It is so easy to make with either fresh or canned peaches and you can enjoy it with ice cream or whipped cream, or even a little of each!
