Epic Beef Nachos Supreme (Better Than Taco Bell)

If you’re looking for an appetizer for game day or a party and you want something hearty and delicious, look no further. These beef nachos are rich-tasting, meaty and really tasty. The combination of ground beef, cheese, refried beans, green onions, and tomatoes offers such an incredible flavor.

As long as you use good quality, sturdy tortilla chips, they will hold up to the weight of the toppings and not break apart when you try to eat the nachos. The refried beans are easy enough to spread (you can microwave them a little first), the ground beef can be lean or not so lean – your choice – and the taco seasoning adds all that yummy south-of-the-border flavor you crave.

Finish with cheese, green onions and tomatoes, and you have all the makings of a seriously good nachos platter! You can even add sliced jalapenos if you want a kick of spice.

Why You’ll Love the Recipe

Nachos are best made and served fresh and this homemade nachos recipe couldn’t be easier. Juicy ground beef with onion and taco flavors top the tortilla chips, along with shredded cheese, tomatoes and more, for a deliciously crunchy appetizer you can’t stop eating.

How to Serve Them

For the best results, serve hot while the chips are still crispy and the beef mixture is nice and warm.

Can You Make Them Ahead?

Not this recipe. Nachos have to be served fresh from the oven.

Storage Instructions:

Leftovers will get a bit soggy but you can keep them for a day or so and then reheat.

Variations and Substitutions:

Optional toppings include sour cream, salsa or pico de gallo, guacamole or avocado slices, or perhaps some fresh cilantro. Sliced black olives are also good, as are diced chilies – perhaps jalapenos if you like. If you aren’t a refried bean fan, use drained canned black beans instead.

Ingredients:

  • Ground beef
  • Tortilla chips
  • Water
  • Taco seasoning
  • Shredded cheddar cheese or Monterey Jack
  • Refried beans
  • Roma tomatoes
  • Green onions
  • Diced yellow onion

How to make Epic Beef Nachos Supreme (Better Than Taco Bell):

Step 1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.

Step 2. Brown the ground beef in a skillet on the stove and then add the onions and cook until the beef is brown throughout and the onions are tender.

Step 3. Drain and discard the grease, then put the beef mixture back in the skillet.

Step 4. Sprinkle the taco seasoning on top then add the water, bring to a simmer and turn the heat down to gently simmer until most of the liquid has evaporated.

Step 5. Meanwhile, add a layer of chips to 2 parchment paper-lined baking sheets.

Step 6. Divide dollops of the refried beans between both and then divide the beef between them and sprinkle the cheese on top.

Step 7. Bake for 15 minutes.

Step 8. Top with diced tomatoes and green onions and serve right away.

Few dishes are as mouthwatering as freshly baked nachos. This delicious appetizer has both crunchy and soft elements, fresh flavors from the vegetables, and robust flavors from the cheese and beef.

Enjoy!
