If you’ve ever dreamed of capturing the sweet, nostalgic taste of a classic orange creamsicle in a simple, creamy dessert, this Orange Creamsicle Fluff recipe is your answer. It’s a light, airy, and refreshing treat that’s perfect for summer potlucks, holiday gatherings, or simply satisfying your sweet tooth after dinner. The combination of tangy orange flavor, sweet whipped cream, and creamy vanilla notes makes every bite feel like a nostalgic trip back to childhood ice cream truck days—but in a fluffy, easy-to-make dessert that requires no churning or fancy equipment.

Why do I love this recipe?
I love this recipe because it’s a perfect balance of creamy and citrusy flavors. It’s light enough that it doesn’t feel overly rich, but indulgent enough to feel like a special treat. Plus, it’s incredibly simple to make. With just a few ingredients like orange gelatin, whipped topping, and cream cheese, you can whip it up in under 15 minutes and have a dessert that tastes like it came from a bakery. It’s also extremely versatile and can be adapted for different flavor variations with minimal effort.

Serving suggestions:
This fluff works wonderfully on its own in a bowl, but it can also be served as a layered dessert in parfait glasses with graham cracker crumbs, crushed vanilla wafers, or fresh berries for a little texture and extra flavor. For a fun summer twist, top it with a dollop of whipped cream and a slice of fresh orange. It’s also a crowd-pleaser for potlucks or picnics because it can be made ahead of time and served chilled.

Storage & freezing:
You can store Orange Creamsicle Fluff in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 4-5 days. If you want to make it ahead for a party, it holds its texture very well when chilled, though I don’t recommend freezing it because the whipped topping can separate when thawed, which may slightly change the texture.

Variations of the recipe:
For a fun twist, try swapping the orange gelatin for other flavors like raspberry or lemon for a different fruity fluff. You can also add mini marshmallows or crushed cookies to the mix for added texture, or fold in a little whipped cream for an extra-light and airy version.

Course: Dessert, Snack, Treat
Cuisine: American
Ingredients Method

Ingredients

  • 1 box orange Jell-O
  • 1 box instant vanilla cheesecake pudding
  • 1 cup boiling water
  • ½ cup cold water
  • 1 8-oz tub Cool Whip, thawed
  • 11 oz canned mandarin oranges drained
  • 1 ½ cups mini pastel marshmallows
Optional garnish:
  • extra mandarin oranges marshmallows, fresh mint

Method

Dissolve the Jell-O:
  1. In a large mixing bowl, pour in the orange Jell-O and add 1 cup of boiling water. Whisk until completely dissolved.
Add cold water & chill:
  1. Stir in ½ cup cold water. Place the bowl in the refrigerator and chill for 20 minutes to allow the mixture to slightly set.
Mix in pudding:
  1. Once chilled, add the instant vanilla cheesecake pudding mix to the Jell-O. Whisk until smooth and well combined. Chill again for 20 minutes, or until the mixture thickens slightly.
Fold in fluff ingredients:
  1. Gently fold in the Cool Whip, drained mandarin oranges, and mini marshmallows until evenly combined. Be careful not to overmix—you want to keep it light and fluffy.
Chill before serving:
  1. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for 1–2 hours to let the flavors meld and the texture firm up.
Garnish & serve:
  1. Before serving, optionally garnish with a few extra mandarin orange slices, marshmallows, or a sprig of fresh mint for a festive touch.
  2. Enjoy!
