Philly Cheese Meatloaf

Philly cheesesteaks are always popular and the same can definitely be said about meatloaf. Both are family favorites but what happens if you are craving both and don’t want to make two separate meals? The answer is right here – you should make Philly cheesesteak meatloaf!

It’s a mouthwatering combination of beef, cheese, vegetables and seasonings. It’s a very easy recipe to make. You don’t need any fancy ingredients or complicated cooking techniques. This recipe is just so simple and fun to make. 

It’s also fun to see everyone’s face when you bring this tasty and cozy meal to the dinner table! Everybody is going to love it and don’t be surprised if they all want seconds, because that usually happens with a recipe this tasty! Pair it with your favorite sides and you will want to add it to the regular meal rotation!

This is a meatloaf recipe but unlike any meatloaf you’ve had before. It’s made with beef, onions, peppers, provolone cheese and more, giving it Philly cheesesteak flavors. 

How to Serve It

Enjoy this hot from the oven, perhaps with mashed potatoes and green beans on the side.

Can You Make It Ahead?

You can prepare it ahead and then bake it later in the day.

Leftovers will keep for up to 3 days and can be microwaved to warm back up. 

Variations and Substitutions

Use another color of bell pepper if you aren’t keen on green ones, a different type of ground meat or another kind of cheese. You can also add some minced jalapeno if you want to spice it up a little.

INGREDIENTS:

  • Lean ground beef
  • Yellow onion
  • Eggs
  • Green bell pepper
  • Panko breadcrumbs
  • Worcestershire sauce
  • Oil
  • Minced garlic cloves
  • Provolone cheese
  • Onion powder
  • Shredded mozzarella
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste

INSTRUCTIONS:

STEP 1. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F.

STEP 2. Saute the bell pepper and onion in a skillet until tender.

STEP 3. Put the beef and cooked vegetables in a mixing bowl with the panko, worcestershire sauce, onion powder, garlic, salt, and black pepper, and knead to mix.

STEP 4. Divide the mixture in half and put one half in a loaf pan or make a loaf shape on a baking sheet.

STEP 5. Top with the provolone cheese and then the other half of the meat mixture to completely enclose the provolone.

STEP 6. Bake for 30 minutes, top with the mozzarella, and bake for a further 15 minutes.
