They could go with almost any sandwich filling that suits your preference. So whether you like to spread peanut butter and jelly or want a savory version with ham and cheese, the fluffy dough makes it the perfect vessel to support the flavors. The Hawaiian roll recipe originated in the 50s and was initially created in Hawaii before it became worldwide famous.

Want to master your baking skills and prepare the best rolls? Let’s share the secrets and our helpful tips!

What makes this recipe so unique?

What we like most about this recipe is the perfect balance between sweet and savory. You won’t tell that we used pineapple juice when tasting the rolls, but it contributes to the mild sweetness. And did we mention the fluffy and squishy texture? Any type of filling sandwiched between the soft layers tastes fantastic.

What to serve it with?

The homemade king Hawaiian rolls go with almost anything. Want to prepare a round of sloppy jokes? The fluffy roll adds a special touch to this recipe, contrasting the saucy and rich filling. Prepare sandwiches and take them to work to enjoy the comfort you have on a long day. Did someone mention burgers? The fluffy goodness is an excellent base for layering pates and sauces. Want to enjoy a sweet version? Spread your favorite jam and let it become your favorite snack.
