The layer of crispy tater tots adds the much-needed carbs to this meal, followed by melted cheese for texture. The gooey cheddar holds the mixture together, so let it set before serving.
What we love most about this recipe is the quick prep and remarkable taste. Add a side of salad or steamed veggies, and you have a complete meal for the whole family. But the casserole isn’t only reserved for busy weeknight dinners. It is a perfect dish to serve on holidays and gatherings.
What makes this recipe so unique?
Adding creamy nacho cheese soup to the ground beef adds flavor and a velvety texture. The quick preparation is another bonus, making this the ideal weeknight dinner recipe. Also, adding frozen tater tots is easier since you only have to get the bag from your freezer.
Can I substitute beef?
Feel free to switch the ground beef with ground turkey or chicken if you want a leaner venison or experiment with flavors. Even though the flavor will vary, don’t forget that the cooking time will vary too. Cook your meat of choice until it is no longer pink or until thoroughly cooked.
What to serve it with?
The Victory’s Tater Tot Casserole is rich in meat and carbs, so serve it with lighter options for a complete meal. We are thinking about adding some steamed veggies on the side. Grilled zucchini and suited brussels sprouts also work fine. Or go with a fresh side salad with a creamy dressing.
Can I make it ahead of time?
Yes, you can make your casserole a few hours before serving and only reheat it whenever you’re ready. Or assemble as instructed and bake the next day.
